You might ask how I know people are thinking these things about me. I’ll tell you. I know, because I think those things about them. And if you uncharitably suspect I am describing a weird round-about way in which I judge myself, I assure you I am not. My reasoning is solid: (1) most people are like me; (2) I judge others harshly; and therefore (3) others judge me harshly.
