Oh my! You hit the nail on the head, Dan. I was a devout Catholic most of my life, until I realized that the leaders of our church couldn't be trusted. I sought out many different religions and chose to become an Episcopalian.I was a devout Episcopalian for the last 20 years, until the far right evangelical, bible thumpers claimed Christianity as their religion, the one true religion, that everyone must belong to and follow the rules of the party not the rules of Jesus. So now I am a devout sojourner. Thanks for this thoughtful essay.
